Forte di Bard, a unique treasure located in the Aosta Valley region

Forte di Bard is a old fortress in the Aosta Valley region where it hosts temporary exhibitions of various type, such the one dedicated to Marilyn Monroe which is hold in these months, concerts, ballets and opera, performances.

There are also two permanent exhibitions, one called Museum of the Alps and the other Children’s Alpsattraction. The latter is a great draw for children, who will love to enjoy a virtual trip around the mountains, admiring eagles, bears and wolves.

The fun then continues through a virtual ascent of Mont Blanc, the famous mountain in between Italy and France that separate the two countries. The kids will have the change to practise a so real hike up climbing walls and feel like they are adults. A very nice place where to bring your kids, especially if they are mountain lovers.

Grown ups of course prefer to spend time walking downthe Fort in the old fashioned way, walking the 19th century paved road in order to admire all the military buildings that dates back the Napoleon‘s time and the pretty nice medieval Borgo located at the foot of the fortress.

The Forte di Bard offers many different ticket combinations, but the most popular one, which gives access to both the Museum of the Alps and the Children’s Alps attraction, costs 11 euros.

Open hours:
Tuesday to Friday: from 10am to 6 pm
Saturday and Sunday: from 10am to 7 pm.
During summer there is the extended opening time, especially during August, when the place is opened up until 7.30 pm. By the way, keep in mind that the ticket office closes one hour before the closing time.
